Overview

LearnLock is operated by Builado LLC ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the LearnLock mobile application ("App").

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

• Profile Information: Your display name, stored locally on your device.

• Study Content: Topics, syllabus text, learning preferences (level, confidence), and deadlines you provide when creating study plans.

• Uploaded Materials: Images and PDF documents you attach to study plans for content analysis. Images may be captured using your device's camera or selected from your photo library. PDF documents may be selected from your device's file system.

• Study Progress: Session completion data, question responses, streaks, and performance statistics, stored locally on your device.

• Focus Mode Preferences: Your Screen Time and focus mode settings, stored locally on your device.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Generate personalized AI-powered study plans and questions based on your topics and materials.

• Evaluate your answers to fill-in-the-blank questions for accuracy.

• Track your learning progress and study streaks locally on your device.

• Manage focus mode and Screen Time restrictions to help you stay focused during study sessions.

Camera & Photo Library

LearnLock may request access to your device's camera and photo library to allow you to photograph or select images of study materials (such as textbook pages, handwritten notes, or diagrams) for inclusion in your study plans. These images are:

• Sent to our backend server and forwarded to OpenAI for content analysis
• Not stored on our servers after processing is complete
• Never used for facial recognition, advertising, or any purpose other than generating study content

You can deny camera or photo library access at any time through your device's Settings. Denying access will not affect other functionality of the App.

Third-Party AI Services

To generate study plans and evaluate answers, we send certain data to OpenAI's API through our secure backend server. The data shared includes:

• Study topic, title, level, and confidence settings
• Syllabus text and content from uploaded materials (including images and extracted PDF text)
• Your answers to fill-in-the-blank questions (for evaluation only)

OpenAI processes this data to generate educational content. OpenAI's use of this data is governed by their privacy policy, available at https://openai.com/privacy. We do not send your name, device identifiers, or any personal identifiers to OpenAI.

Data Storage & Retention

• Local Storage: Your profile, study plans, progress, and preferences are stored on your device using secure local storage. This data is not uploaded to our servers or any cloud service.

• Server Processing: When generating study plans or evaluating answers, your study content is sent to our backend server for processing. This data is held temporarily in server memory during processing (typically under 10 minutes) and is then automatically deleted. We do not maintain a persistent database of user content.

• Server Logs: Our servers may generate anonymized processing logs for debugging and error-monitoring purposes. These logs do not contain personally identifiable information and are retained for no more than 30 days.

Screen Time & Family Controls

LearnLock uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls APIs to help you block distracting apps during study sessions. This feature:

• Requires your explicit authorization before activation
• Only operates when you enable focus mode
• Does not share Screen Time data with us or any third party
• Can be disabled at any time from within the App

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data with:

• OpenAI: Study content for plan generation and answer evaluation (as described above).

We do not use any analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Delete all your data at any time from the Profile screen using the "Delete All Data" option.
• Disable focus mode and Screen Time restrictions at any time.
• Stop using the App, which will cease all data processing.

Since all personal data is stored locally on your device, uninstalling the App will remove all stored data.

Children's Privacy

LearnLock is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use the App. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@builado.com.

International Users

LearnLock is operated by Builado LLC from the United States. If you access the App from outside the United States, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, where our servers and OpenAI's servers are located. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to the United States. We process your data on the legal basis of your consent (provided through the in-app AI Data Consent prompt) and our legitimate interest in providing and improving the App.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection laws, including the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
